Written Mains was still 1,500 marks. The 400 marks that are now GS 5–6 sat in the optional. If you are writing the current exam, 2022 is a GS 1–4 and language year, not a full-pattern year.

How to use 2022 if you are writing the current PCS
Keep. Prelims GS and CSAT as extra mocks. Mains Hindi and Essay for language practice. GS 1–4 for syllabus tagging — history–society–geography, polity, economy–security, ethics. Word limits on these papers (typically ~125 / ~200 words) still match later GS 1–4.
Do not stop here. Current Mains adds 2023 GS 5–6 and 2024 GS 5–6. Those 400 marks have no 2022 file. Optional notes from 2022 do not convert automatically into UP GS notes.
Compare with 2021. UPPSC 2021 used the same six compulsory Mains papers. Two years of Hindi / Essay / GS 1–4 is enough depth for those papers; spend remaining Mains time on the 2023–24 UP pair.
