The Three-Stage Journey
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is a marathon conducted in three distinct stages. Each stage tests a different facet of the candidate, from breadth of knowledge in Prelims to depth of understanding in Mains and character in the Interview.

Stage 1: Prelims Overview
Objective-type screening round. Focuses on broad conceptual clarity and factual accuracy. Marks are not counted for the final rank but qualify you for the Mains.
Stage 2: Mains Overview
Descriptive-type examination testing the depth of your understanding. This stage determines your intellectual caliber and forms the core of the final merit list.
Stage 3: Interview Overview
Final evaluation of your personality, presence of mind, integrity, and suitability for high-level governance and administrative responsibility.
